Hope for Creation: Gathering and Sowing the Seeds We’re Meant to Grow

@ Snyder Heritage Farm, Elkhart, IA

““Action on behalf of life transforms. Because the relationship between self and the world is reciprocal, it is not a question of first getting enlightened or saved and then acting. As we work to heal the earth, the earth heals us.”

“Earth’s crammed with heaven,

And every common bush afire with God;

But only he who sees takes off his shoes.”

9:00-1:00

Let's work together and do something meaningful.

Join us for a morning of creation care and fellowship! In partnership with Lutheran Church of Hope, Ankeny and the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, we will be participating in prairie wildflower seed harvesting and exploring what “restoration” looks like in God’s creation and in our own lives of faith. No experience needed.

Lunch is provided. Bring a side or dessert to share, a water bottle, something to sit on, and a pair of work gloves! Wear long pants.

One registration required per family. Note: INHF has a separate waiver requirement; we will send you that information upon registration here!

Here’s our plan for the day

9:00 Introductions and orientation to our morning together

9:20 Activities, Readings and Contemplation of our Relationship to Creation

10:15 Harvesting prairie wildflower seeds

12:15 Pot luck lunch – Nourishing our bodies and hearts by breaking bread together

Here’s more info about the day

Our time together will bring us into a relationship with nature that is a relationship with the Sacred.

Our service of harvesting wildflower seeds will provide benefits of healthy and diverse habitats across INHF prairie properties in central Iowa.

Bring work gloves and work clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

If you’d like, bring something to share for a pot luck lunch. Bringing food is not a requirement stay for lunch. Your presence is sufficient!

This is a family friendly event! Bring your kids, parents, etc. We ask that you leave your furry family members at home.
